modernist poetry

modernist poetry

1.on London’s Embankment an area well-known for homeless people sleeping rough, a ‘fallen gentleman’ reflects on his past and how he found pleasure in worldly social and beautiful women – probably (given the ‘flash of gold heels on the hard pavement‘) courtesans or prostitutes. The phrases like 'hard pavement’, ' star-eaten blanket' reflects the harshness of life seen by poet.

2.Very title is about darkness which symbol off something like downfall. And the symbol off hope is stare but it is no longer. As toilet says but a silver ribbon of light witch is suggest broken stare.
The boy it says 'I look it and pass on 'mean the modern man is indifferent about all this.

3.Forsaken lovers are portrayed here by poet. The lovers are aburning with this so called Victorian good thoughts and belife. Here, poet says that the lovers are being burned by white moon.

4. In this quick poem, Pound describes watching faces appear in a metro station. It is unclear whether he is writing from the vantage point of a passenger on the train itself or on the platform. The setting is Paris, France, and as he describes these faces as a "crowd," meaning the station is quite busy.

5. In the poem, The Pool," Doolittle speaks intimately about an issue that she faced through her life: her bi-sexuality. One of her mentors, Sigmund Freud, worked with Doolittle concerning her sexuality, which led to her standing as an icon for both the gay movement and feminine rights.
6. In this poem, poet compares his poems with dove. Here the words like 'Trudging' and 'cheerily' gives contrasting meaning. These words give the image of life where we are doing many things unwillingly. Poems can not fly but here poet says he has made poems that can fly away like white winged doves. It looks he want to be free.

7. Morning at the Window is an imagist poem that presents an image of poverty. The picture is that of a slum where people lead miserable lives. The speaker is at the window. He may be a visitor of a certain house in the area where poor people live. The images that come to his eyes are 'object correlatives' or objects corresponding certain ideas and emotions in the poet's and the reader's mind.

8. With four stanzas the poem describes in humongous detail not just a wheelbarrow but a whole scene, a moment stuck in time. Williams’s form in the poem accomplishes this by using the strange break points to emphasize certain words and letting the words and their rhythms work for themselves. The first stanza, “so much depends/ upon” illustrates this by making the reader’s eye and mind just hang off the word ‘depends.’

9. Anecdote of the Jar is an imagist poem in which Stevens explores the question of the superiority between art and nature: Is nature superior to human creations, or does human creativity surpasses nature in some way? This is an age-old and puzzling question. This poem solves the riddle by recognizing the unique differences between art and nature: art may sometimes be more beautiful than nature but it cannot be as creative as the nature.

10. Poet has beautifully captured the image of falling leaves in the poem.. The fragmentation of the word loneliness is especially significant, since it highlights the fact that that word contains the word one. So here poet compares fall of leaf with life of people.

structuralism and literary criticism.

Hear i am sharing my views regarding structuralism and literary criticism.

“structuralism is a way to examines a literary text to arrive at their meaning , rather than the actual meaning of the text themselves.”
Structuralism criticism conceives literature to be a second order signifying system that uses the first order structure system of language as it’s medium and is it self to be analyzed primarily on the model of linguistic theory.
Here I analyzed  the movie “Ek villain”. “Ek villain” film directed by Mohit suri.
Every love story has a hero, a heroine, and a villain. But this is the love story of a villain. Guru is a quiet, tough, and ruthless man, who works for a crooked politician. A dark past refuses to let Guru sleep at night until he meets Aisha. He falls in love with her and his life changes. Just when things seem perfect, she falls prey to an attack. Devastated, Guru starts hunting the miscreant and is shocked to learn of his seemingly innocuous and simple identity. Does Guru succeed in getting even with the assailant? And what is the motive behind the killings? The plot thickens as the astonishing mystery unveils and new realizations come to the forefront.
When his lover becomes the latest victim of a serial killer, Guru blurs the line between good and evil in his pursuit of revenge.

Presentations on T.S. Eliot's 'The Waste Land'

Respected sir,

(1)   My view about...  The Wast Land’ Written by T. S. Eliot is give idea about individual talent and tradition. Concept of human being myths and philosophy. Nietzsche about super human and other Eliot’s idea’s about forward to looks. The image is overcome into T.S.Eliot’s mind to connect with myths and Nietzsche’s connect with philosophy.

2. Freud had talked about natural instint (food to sex) and one should satisfy his or her instint for better state of mind. while Eliot was very traditional minded and he had said that  one should be movie towards  religion. And poem speaks about the main theme sexual perversion and excetly  to move towards culture and tradition.

3. The Indian allusions are of “Ganga”, “Himavat”, “Data”, “Dayadhvam”, “Damyata” and “Shantih, Shantih, Shantih”.He makes use of Indian allusions in the last part- which symbolically mean that he comes to Indian Spirituality for the solution of his questions. Data means be a giver, what have you given? Dayadhvam means sympathy for others. Damyata means Self- control. He ends his poem by lines  Shantih, Shantih, Shantih, which is taken from Upanishad.
       Thankyou.....

Worksheet: Virginia Woolf's To The Lighthouse

Respected sir,

(1) We can say that Virginia Woolf has thrown some light on the serious topic like human relation. When we mention Virginia Woolf “To the lighthouse” it is very natural to take about her steam of consciousness technique. It is used more accurately than the latter, since it is rhetorical term and properly refers to a literary technique. The technique of stream of consciousness especially with description of consciousness. So it is all characters can be vividly seen by reader were then author has no need to describe anything.
(2) Yes we can say that Mrs . Ramsay is a typical Indian woman. She is lovely wife and mother . She always think about others especially her family. She is also good hostess.woolf represents Ramsays character as an Indian house wife who always care and think for other. The symbol of window is represents her emotions and feelings .she lives for her family and that's why she is the center of the house and novel also.other side woolf reflects Lily Briscoes character .she is opposite from Mr.Ramsay. she live her life with freedom .she never sacrifice herself for other like mr Ramsay. So here woolf trys to identify herself in Lilly's character or she may be identify women's freedom by Lily's character. In the other side woolf reflects the house wife (mr Ramsay)who lives for other and never think about herself . Lilys painting represents mrs Ramsay here we can see that Lily trys to make an image of mrRamsay it identify that may be Lily wants to understand her or she inspired by her .
(3) The Light house is the symbol used for Mrs Ramsay. She is standing straight in the storms of emotions and minor clashes among family members as light house is standing and guiding force for the voyager. Lily sometimes carries the feelings of writer. Woolf had overcome her own struggle with society as well as her inner self, which brought stoicism. When Lily paints, she remembers Mrs Ramsay.
(4) Here Woolf has used Oedipus myth and myth of Rhea and other Goddesses. The light house is relevant to the human phallic symbol but here it stands for Mrs Ramsay. She is the live force, creative force of the Ramsay family. Exalting the feminine principle in life over the masculine, Virginia Woolf built her novel around a character embodying the life-giving role of the female. In opposition, she shows the male, both in the father and son aspect, as death-bearing?arid, sterile, hateful, and "fatal" . The female principle in life is exalted in all its aspects of love which are opposed to the harsh and critical aspects of the male principle, of fertility with its pattern of triumph over death in rebirth. What, then, becomes of the single obvious central symbol, the Lighthouse.

Worksheet: Screening Movie Waiting for Godot

1: "A country road, A Tree Evening" is the setting of both a play and these two paintings. Tree is very symbolic it leaves, means leaves as a hope. This two painting by Casper David Friedrich "Longing". In both are the setting of the play and painting can be connected with "Waiting".

2: Tree is the important symbol in two acts we can see that in the first act tree is barren and we can not find any leaves on the tree, and the second act we find some leaves on the tree. Here, Tree is very symbolic it leaves means leaves as a "hope". Samuel Bucket connects with human life.

3:Both acts end when night fall and moon rising. Night gives hope that another day will come and something will happen.

4: In the movie version director showing debris it's like absurdity. "Waiting for Godo't" is an absurd drama in the concept of nothingness of life and nothingness of life.

5: The theme of the play is nothingness The play begins with the one dialogue "Nothing to be done", word it also shows "Nothing" means "something". Other two characters are Vladimir and Estragon are waiting for something and they represent the title of the play.

6: Yes, I agree with the positivity of this play because they are waiting for something. Waiting is endless but nobody comes it shows something symbolically truth about life. We can say that in this play meaningless, nothingness, waiting as theme or center in play. Waiting is something as theme or center in the play. waiting is something positive thought and universe ideas in the play.

7: First frame camera focus on boots and hat. Symbol of hat and boot are represent in the play.
Hat - Vladimir and higher thinking.
Boot- Estragone and lower thinking.

8: Lucky is very obedient and the slavery of lucky to his master. Luckey's behaviour is unberable or untolrable. Lucky and Pozzo's character are relationship between master and slave.

9: According to my point of view Godo't is an object of God two character: Vladimir and Estragon waiting for God. Both character are think about God.

10:In this play waiting is main subject. Waiting is endless but nobody comes. It shows something symbolicaly truth about life. In this play only one action doing two character Vladimir and Estragone: “Waiting”. Here, in this play not any action, not only rising, climax, plot in the play.

11Waiting for Godo't is better to read and the simple language and short dialogue but all the dialogue give more understanding of lofe. While the reading time we cannot see perfect background so, both audio and visual help in better understanding of play.

12: I like most Pozzo and Lucky: both episode in both acts slave master relationship.

13: While watching in the play we can see Existence in the play. Centeral theme is Existentialism Existence in the end of the play because in the end no any come it is better to be Existence rather than waiting for someone.

14: Estragon talking about “Langing” theselves and commit sucide because fear of God in doing this they might commit sin it is their belief so again this thing and idea of sucide dealing with existentialism.

15: Pozzo and Lucky of slave master relationship because after second world war some political situation of England.

16: yes , by two characters Beckett created political satire on England Portrayed Pozzo as blind master so it is very hated towards political aspects they try to showing in directly in play.

Worksheet: Film Screening - Harold Pinter's The Birthday Party

Respected Sir,
Here are my views regrading the task on ( 'The Birthday Party.')
*Birthday Party, In act one was started with the mourning time in play Herold Pinter not uses out side of home but in movie he uses setting out side of as a street. He shows camera effect as a perspective of car driver and with disgusting sound use with intentionally because of this effect he make his movie powerful than the play. Conversation of Meg and Petey tries to convey a unknown fear what was going to happening starting of the movie don’t show face of car driver so it is also symbol of unknown fear. And also mirror also a symbol when Meg see her face in mirror she looks happy but mirror show always unrealistic image. In movie voice of airplane landing it also shows threatening effect of world war. Herold Pinter writes about his own past and childhood experience.
Windows and door are also uses for symbol. And Standly constant fearful one after another way MC Can convinces to Gold berg you have to do it is your duty. And MC Cann was constantly observing so it is also show his fearful mind. In starting of act two MC Cann broken a news paper cutting it shows inner stress and he avoid Standly. And forcefully celebration of Standly’ of Birthday . How a forcefully society make you celebrity so after celebration keep our self ready for downfall and behind on it comedy of menace. Society don’t leave alone as a artist so this event was free to interpret that he may also singed some contract also. Mac Cann and Goldberg ask question to Standly and Standly not give proper answer. So it shows a power and lower position. How a one artist breakdown himself behalf of society. The dialogue of question and answer it also shows child hood experience of Pinter When he passed from British colony he suffer a lot because of he was Jew.
Pinter the way he write women character it shows that in this play women don’t like see a reality live in only illusion. And Pinter also shows that the play was constantly moved ahead perspective of Standly. In act three as an artist Standly lost his creativity. The pieces of newspaper are also shows broken personality of Standly. So news paper was use as a symbol. The laughing of Lulu is also a sinister laughing we can compare with witch laugh in the forest. Close room and darker setting are shoes the room prison and Standly was a prisoner. The game of Blindman’s bluff it is also very symbolic. This symbol referred theme of blindness and man groping in the darkness search for identity and search for Existential human predicament. And another was a plight of an artist. and toy drum was a symbol of a broken personality of Standly. And meg say it is still playing so after meet society as a artist he dose not make any creative art.

Flipped Learning - FLINNT / Blog - Learning Activity

Respected sir,
1) I agree that eliot's concept of tradition because trafition is not order narration of past but reflection of the recent time.
2)The historical sense which is a sense of the timeless ad well as of the temporal and of the timeless and of the temporal together is what makes a writer traditional.
3)According to Eliot tradition and infividual talent both are not separate entity.they are inseparable and hemce go together.
4)The quote says that the power of observing knowledge though you are educated or not.
Creativity is not in education but in creative mind.
5)This quite means one should tried to see what ward tried to say rather than tend to poet.
6)The theory of depersonalization is becomes very simple with the help of the example of chemical reaction. And like to apply the same. In the second part of the essay he gives an example of the chemical reaction to explain his theory, the chemical process seems to very similar to that of the poetry. If we compare the chemical elements with abstract things from the poet's life.
7)Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality." In this quote Eliot assert that the poet is not to find a new emotions, but use ordinary one and in working upon them in to poetry, to express feelings which are not in actual emotions at all. And emotions which he never experienced will serve his turn as well as those familiar to him. So the above quote is true.
8)Eliot gives an idea about new criticism. He is a pioneer to understand new criticism.

Dryden's Essay: Of Dramatic Poesy: Short Video Lectures and Quiz

.respected sir,
 (1) yes, i see different between Aristotle's  and Dryden's definition of  tragedy Ex.Aristotle said that:Tragedy, then is an imitation of an action that is serious, complete magnitude.Dryden use Aristotle's definition of tragedy an imitation of on ,entire, great and probable action;not told but represented which by moving in us fear and pity is conducive to the purging of those two emotion in our minds
(2)I side for moderns  because i think moderns in more than batter to the ancients so that i favor to the moderns.Moderns are gave a more than chance to the create new ideas and imagination. Ancients is also a tipicale and old minded.
(3)yes i favor with dryden to his arguments presented in favor of french play he prove that french play is more than batter to the english play he says french are superior to the english for gave a various reasons.
(4)I would like poetry because the function of poetry would be lively and baggage way of what human nature is like.

Coleridge: Biographia Literaria

Respected sir,
(1) The difference between poem and prose is...
Poem and Prose , both are generally creative in nature and are used to express emotion or tell a story , but their way of presentation are not same.
Poem is more structured in terms of the poet’s imagination, format in which he or she written.
Prose is generally more rigid in terms of grammatical correctness and simple language.
(2)Poem is literary creation and Poetry is the art form. Poem and Poetry are different, but both are representative of each other.
Poetry is hard to write and Poem is hard to understand. Poetry is an activity of the poet’s mind and poem is one of the forms of verbal expression of that activity and poetic activity is basically an activity of the imagination.

Online Discussion 3: Education System: Class in Forest

Respected sir,

This image is a satire on current education system. My friend Megha is mentioned about ability and disability. This type of same way we also follow and then on the based of this exam of result we judge people. But it's not good. So skill based education is best way for good education.

Atheism and Morality

Respected Sir,
Bible and scarlet letter wrote as a atheist book because when I searched atheist literature at that time I found five atheist book name and I choose this two because in Bible there is talked on Jews community and some atheist also. And in Scarlet letter Scarlet used as a symbol.

Midnight’s children

Midnight’s children:

Midnight’s children wrote by controversial writer Salman Rushdie. This is adopted as a film by Deepa Mehta. In the movie Deepa Mehta used very well Salman Rushdie’s narrative style – magic realism. Magic realism is literary devise whereas post colonialism is literary theory. Thus, magic realism is a postcolonial device. Salman Rushdie very well composed literary theory in his writing through his style magic realism.

Saleem Sinai is the protagonist. Saleem born on midnight that time India got freedom in the hand of British. So Saleem Sinai’s generation of midnight’s children to the generation of Indians with whom he was born and raised. Saleem’s entire life struggled with self – identity, conflicts of living between two worlds and the forces of new cultures. Saleem’s life represents the life of Salman Rushdie.

Salman Rushdie felt that he hasn’t his own land, there was only Imaginary Homelands. Same thing he gave to his character – Saleem that he became the sandwich between two identities, two nations. He hasn’t his own neither blood nor love or neither identity nor nation. This we can say through what he said that

‘‘My wrong blood changed my father’s love into hate.’’

And also said that

‘‘I have many families and no family’’

                         Or

We can say that he have many nations and no nation, what Salman Rushdie talked about ‘‘Authenticity’’ that there is no authenticity. Authenticities in everywhere like ideas, nations and also narrator. We cannot say that these all things are truth. We cannot rely on that. Because nothing is ours, we are just part of that. The only thing is about the ‘‘Acts of Love’’ and ‘‘Humanity’’.

This idea is reflect at the end of the movie when Saleem said to his child that

‘‘A new generation but more careful Acts of Love’’.

These two things we find out in ‘‘Reluctant Fundamental’’ also. The novel wrote by a Pakistani writer Mohsin Hamid. It is based on 9/11 incident. This is adopted as a movie by Mira Nair. The protagonist is Changez Khan. The image was created by American as a superior, he has in his mind. He has an American dream. He works in America very well. But as time passes he comes to know that he exploiting his ‘‘own people’’. He himself drives thousands of people into unemployment.

Afterward he comes to know that they are considered as a Pakistani terrorist instead of a Pakistani man. It is also constructed image by English people. Here Changez tries to remove this image through the postcolonial tool. He is coming from third world country, so he knows very well about the aspects of post colonialism. And through this tool he tries to remove the identity which is imposed or constructed. He tries to remove the identity through the basic fundamental. He comes into introduction of two different persons, who are talked about fundamental at the surface level.

For example –

Jim Cross – ‘‘we do that by focusing on the fundamentals’’ and
Mustafa Fazil – ‘‘our only hopes as a people are the fundamental truths…’’

Everybody talked about fundamental but the thing is that nobody knows the basic fundamental. Changez tries to gave basic fundamentals like,

      ‘‘Acts of love’’ and ‘‘Humanity’’.

Colonial people forget these two aspects. So through the mouthpiece of Changez, Mohsin Hamid tries to reached these two aspects to the people through postcolonial.

                                                                            Thank you...

writer of Bajirao-Mastani

 Respected Sir,
History presents the past and past is connected with our present time. History is always written by winner's perspective. That is why we only know half truth about history. Mastani was a also brilliant in horse riding, sword fighting and classical dance. But we are not find any historical writing about Mastani's skills because history is written by Maratha's point of view and they are against Mastani.

Online Discussion 4: Threats to Creativity and Freedom of Expression

After reading interview of Javed Akhter, we can say that "Caste" between two generation that is new generation is not believe in cast system. Many people suffer a lot. A.R. Online Discussion 3: Quotes of Virginia Woolf: My top 3 quotes.

Online Discussion 3: Quotes of Virginia Woolf: My top 3 quotes.

Three quotations that i life most here are as following
1)"if you do not tell the truth about yourself you can not tell it about other people"
if you stares one finger against me,four will be in front of you.if you yourself have no sense or understanding of following the path of morality then how can we advised others...!so first be the followers of truth then after go for preaching.
2)"so long as you write what you wish to write, that is all that matters and whatever it matter for ages are only for hours, nobody can say"
if i do this what they think is not matter.when we have power to convinced them with us through our writing.so write whatever you want with powerful impact then one day it will itself come with acceptance.
3)"once she knows how to read there's the only one thing you can teach her to believe in & that is herself"
write whatever in our mind & then try to be strict with that.don't just try to express thinking but always also try to go through with that & then after you can give justice to your views.to follow our self expression & then believe in it is the real justice of our writing.

ONLINE discussion 2: Ancient vs Modern: Isn't it stupid to think who is better?

ONLINE discussion 2: Ancient vs Modern: Isn't it stupid to think who is better?

I would like to say that Ancient are good in comparison to modern.because they were completely new in writing at that time.no more references and models they had to follow or get ideas of writing whatever they created is their own genius ability and capacity.without base they started writing and through their self creativity they contributed more than demand.that itself shows that how they are unique and superior in comparison to modern.so i would say that ancient had self quality and we can say skills of writing without using techniques or mediums in writing.while modern h.ave big sources in the form of ancient to get ideas and writing skills for providing demanded writings.ancient had also enough rewards to prove their master mind in comparison to modern.

issue of ban on meats is such relevant example of above mentioned discussion.to show morality at some point we all are support such ban but it will be for some time, lasting impact can't works that really can aware the society from such bad manners or habits of eating meats.just with the aim of getting publicity through such ban and issues people has used to have such mentality but they mostly in reality show their real identity.no actual care and concerns is there only show off on self advantage is reflected through in this.so that don't works for society but it simply, clearly work against society.
Article on casting in ashoka in bihar
cast system, class system and such other classification only according to me,parts the people instead of gathering.before many years, ruling system was there.at that time people must had to suppressed.they couldn't raise their voice.same here,at the present time,in democracy, above people there is supreme authority of politicians.they rules over us.though we have freedom we all have some restrictions.they all just for getting status some how they pressed our free wills and desires.

BLUEST EYE

                BLUEST EYE

The tittle of the novel is short and sweet, it is also attractive. any tittle of any work should be suggestive it may suhgest the important themes or characteres. The tittle of our novel is not different from these ideas.

(1) Singularity of Eye
(2) Eye is related to sight
(3) The Blue Colour
(4) The Superlative Degree
(5) Pe ola's wish for Blue eyes
   * Pecola is Black
   * Concept of beauty
   * Her parents would stop fighting
   * Father stop drinking
   * Brother stop running
(6) Contrast in the Novel
(7) Blue and Black

Thus the novel has rich varity of meaning its ambiguity shows the writers attitude for the writing. The novel has remain remarkable and the most impressive work.
